Welcome to the Perham Cross Country Family
Handbook Home Next
Welcome to Cross Country. You have joined the Perham Cross Country team. Cross Country is a fall sport that involves running on a wide variety of terrains such as wooded trails, across fields, on golf courses, up hills & down hills. Races can also be run in the rain and even snow. Below are pictures of our girls and guys after winning the section meet in 2009 in Bagley, MN. Both teams won the section championships in a blizzard.
Why cross country?Cross Country provides the opportunity for individual and team accomplishments. Many students join the program for different reasons. Some are here because they have had siblings that ran. Some use it as a way to stay in shape for other sports. Some join because their friends are involved. However they choose to get involved, we welcome all who wish to work hard and improve.
Being a part of such a sport, a student can become more qualified in terms of college acceptance. We often come in contact with college coaches and recruiters during our Invitational meets. It is not uncommon for local colleges to offer financial assistance to athletes who are above average in both academics and running ability. In Perham we take great pride in our running program, however we remind our athletes that they are students first and grades come before sports. For the past 7 years our guys team has carried the highest G.P.A. team average in the cross country and our girls have been among the top in the state. |
